A Happy New Year (Every day is the beginning of a new year.)
Has the old year had its sorrows ? Never mind the old year now! There is joy for the tomorrows, There'll be new leaves on the bough, There'll be sunshine on the meadows, There'll be blossoms wet with dew- Past the grieving, past the shadows, A glad New Year waits for you.
Has the grim old year bereft you Of a loved one, stopped a song? There are other loved ones left you, And the New Year comes along With new loves to meet and greet you, With new hearts as tender-true- Now the New Year comes to meet you, Brings new gladnesses to you.
A new loving shall enfold you In a newer sweet delight, A new tenderness shall hold you, Comfort you and hold you tight; When one door to loving closes A new door swings open wide; There are still songbirds and roses, There are new paths to be tried.
There are paths to smoothe for others, There are eyes still dimmed with tears, There are others, sisters, brothers, Needing you along the years; You're a part of God's wise planning- The New Year is planned for you; Go to it, its fair ways scanning For the good that you may do.
And its pattern shall be splendid Where you weave with threads of gold, And before the year is ended You shall see God's plans unfold; You shall see a glad year, true year; Its brave spirit comes along, Wishing you a Happy New Year In a loving glory song.
